 About Us

Banstead Art Group was originally formed in 1947, by a group of enthusiastic painters who met in the ‘Old Canteen’ at one end of Banstead High Street. We are now a group of 50-plus members and we meet once a month at the Banstead Community Hall.

Members are encouraged to bring an Artwork along to the monthly meetings. These meetings take the form of group-self appraisals or appraisals with a professional visiting artist. The Group also provides an opportunity for socialising and information sharing with other members.

New for 2022, we are now running quarterly workshop with visiting professional artists. These workshops will cover a range of mediums including watercolour and oil painting. These will run on Saturday mornings and will be held in the main hall at the Banstead Community Centre. More information about the workshops can be found here

As a group we also take part in a number of local events including the Banstead Village May Fayre and Banstead Village Fair in July.

In October, we hold an annual exhibition to show our members' original work. This event, held in the Banstead Community Hall, is popular and well attended. The art on show includes watercolour, oil, pastel and mixed media. Visitors can vote for their favourite piece in the exhibition. More information about the exhibition can be found here

BAG members are also encouraged to produce greetings cards for sale at the Annual Exhibition and throughout the year.
